Excerpt from His Only Son, 2023

This is my candid advice: before you read this, ensure you’re not in a hurry. Take your time to read this piece. If you can’t concentrate right now, it’s fine, don’t read it yet, until you can.

When we talk about a goal, a target, or a cutoff mark, it is expedient that such is met to have completed such a challenge. Unless the requirement for a venture is acquired, such will be in vain.

What does it mean to come short? If you were to get a score of 40 to pass an exam and you got 39.9999, you have fallen short. You’ve just not met the requirement. Man has constantly been in this business of coming short.

Rom. 3:23: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (KJV)

Now you must be thinking, what kind of evil examiner will not add 0.0001 for the student to pass? The simple answer is “a just one”. However, if that lecturer does add it, what he has shown is mercy. Mercy is simply an allocation given to you that you don’t deserve.

Heb. 4:16: Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. (KJV)

The truth is that we have constantly been at odds with God. The requirement for access is to be righteous, however, we’ve constantly struggled with that, haven’t we?

God is just, but also merciful. You see, he passed the judgement on His seat of sovereignty, yet came down and paid the price.

John 1:14: And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (KJV)

Heb. 4:15: For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. (KJV)

Isa. 53:5–6: But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. (KJV)

All He seeks is your faith in Him. Are you willing to give just that? Jesus is the only way to that requirement God seeks from us.

Rom. 3:22: Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
