Plus One or Minus One?

Time is a paradoxical wonder. With each passing year, we gain the gift of age but lose the precious resource of time. Each birthday celebrates life gained but also serves as a reminder of time's fleeting nature. As we grow richer in knowledge and experience, we become poorer in the hours left to live. So, is it truly a plus one or a minus one?

This duality of time forces us to reckon with its transiency. Every new chapter we write in our lives leaves fewer blank pages in the book. The milestones we cherish mark our achievements but also gently remind us that time marches on, regardless of our sentiment. As the saying goes, "Time waits for no man."

Yet perhaps this question is not one of addition or subtraction, but perspective. If time is slipping through our fingers, what are we doing with the moments we still hold? Are we wasting them, lamenting their brevity, or are we treasuring them, making the most of every minute to fulfill our God-given purpose?

To some, the ticking clock is a countdown to the inevitable and a reminder of what’s slipping away. Life may seem like an endless pile of hopelessness, filled with despair and gloom. To others, every moment is a call to action, an invitation to live fully. True life comes only from the Giver of life. The question remains: Have you truly started living, or are you disregarding His call to bless you with sight?

Jesus answered and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John‬ ‭3:3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

So, is it plus one or minus one? Perhaps it’s both, and therein lies the beauty of time. The fleeting nature of earthly life becomes a gift when viewed in the light of eternity. It is a reminder to realign our priorities and focus on what truly matters.
